Leyburn Socks!

I just finished my Leyburn Socks (free pattern found here (http://pepperknit.com/blog/archives/344)).

I had been eager to use the Rio de la Plata, color SP04, that I bought the weekend of Mother's Day...

A word about the yarn. This was one skein of yarn that I wound into two separate balls. My original intent had been to knit them two-at-a-time. I wound up doing them separately using Magic Loop. But, when I finished, I realized that they look like they were made from different colors!! It's very strange and not at all pleasing to me.

Oh well. I'll still wear them. One thing's for sure...nobody else will have a pair like them!

Quickie stats: I began this project on June 6 and completed it today, June 21. I used 80g of yarn on size 1 1/2 needles. I completed 11 pattern repeats from the heel up.

wow! lovely socks! i really like making socks with self-striping or variegated yarn for the very reason that they don't usually come out perfectly matched. they are truly *one of a kind*. linknit41

I bought some variegated dk sock yarn a few years ago...abut 17 skeins of it in fact...Atacama Araucanian...I guess kettle dyed or hand dyed...anyway...when I finally got all 17 "identical" hanks wound up into 'cakes'...I could clearly see that I had 4 different colorways...all the same color number mind you...and maybe the same dyelot...but BOY O BOY...the 4 'batches' were all so different in intensity, and some had more rust, some had more gold, some had more grey...I just bagged it. Made some hats for DH, and still have a bunch of it. It might do for socks...but...I think I could also have two socks that are slightly different like yours.

BTW, I think your socks are MAGNIFICENT! Thanks for modeling for us!!!!
