Pattern: Cassidy (http://www.chicknits.com/catalog/cassidy.html) by Bonne Marie Burns (Chic Knits)
Yarn: Aran Tweed Donegal Yarn from the Commodum (http://www.commodum.ie/page6.html)in Ireland.
Color: Citron Yellow #4987
Yardage: 1400 yds. (4 Irish Skeins of 350 yds each)
Modification: Started the pattern right from the cast on edges of the body and the sleeves. Used a 2 sizes smaller needle for the first 4" of the sleeve 'cuffs'. Did not make the hood. Made a collar using the same TW3 cable from the body of the sweater.

There is a Ravelry Cassidy Knitalong. (http://www.ravelry.com/groups/cassidy-kal) I didn't host it, but I revived it along with a couple of other knitters.

I made this scarf to pair with this sweater:

Wow, wow, wow! For the cardigan and the scarf!!

The yellow of the cardigan is a lovely color for you!! You look amazing in it!!

I was wondering...how is your stash busting coming along? I don't keep up with that thread anymore, but I can't help but think that you must be knocking it out in a big way with all of the projects you've been working on.

That is great! Is the yellow tweed the shade you were looking for??

07-03-2009, 02:09 AM
Just lovely. I do like the pattern starting right from the cast on too.

That is great! Is the yellow tweed the shade you were looking for??

Yes, and it is less "gold" looking in different lighting. Sometimes I look at it and think...this isn't lemon yellow, this is light gold.
Other times, it looks lemon!

Good thing though, the 'donegals' are white and lime-leaf green!
This adds to the overall citrus appeal!

Anyway, I'll tell ya this, it is the closest to lemon yellow I've found so far!

I love your new sweater. The changes you made are nice. You came up with a really nice collar for it. Did they have ribbing or something at the bottom? The way you did it at the bottom is perfect. Love the color and the scarf really goes with it nicely. A close up of the buttons would be good, they look special but can't see the details. You always have such cool buttons. Nice fit.

Thanks Judy! There was a prescribed 4 inch "ribbing" which was K3P1 ribbing. It was really a 'lame' ribbing in comparison to the tons of cabling just above it. I wasn't wild about such a lame ribbing with such a complex cable pattern. So I just took off with the cabling from get-go!

Here is a close up of the buttons. I really like them!
The lighting isn't that good, but you can see the detail of the buttons. The color is a warm gold, and not brassy.

Thanks for the closeup of the buttons. They are beautiful. Lots of details. Your sweater doesn't miss the ribbing at all. I love the cables going all the way to the hem. I also enjoyed the closeup of the sweater showing the extra colors in the yarn. Lovely yarn.
