You don't even wanna know how late I stayed up, seaming and finishing this Clasica! And jiggering around with the button placements, reinforcements, and button loops. Oy!

Anyway, here she is. Will model later, after I've had a major overhaul! Maybe later. I'm sittin' here in hot rollers now. Still no makeup for this road weary face!

SO VOGUE! I like this pattern and the yarn too. Your work is always excellent! What size did you make it? Congratulations.

I have several skeins of a merino & alpaca blend that works up to 4 stitches per inch. I wonder if this pattern would be a good one to use.

I made the 50". This coat needs LOTS of positive ease. I've seen a few that were just 3" ease...and the buttonloops strain and pull at the coat!

Yes, I think your yarn will work very nicely! A swatch is the true test!

Amazing! Another work of art, and I'm sitting here

Love the coat, love you, but I'm so envious at your talent and perserverence.

BTW, we're the same size, and that coat looks a bit long on you . . .

You're 5 feet tall, too? Yes, I am glad that it's longer on me.
That's why I made no length changes on the body pieces.
I did bind off at the required 19" at the armpits, and worked the raglan area 'as per pattern' (no changes)...and my pieces matched up with the schematics...so I guess it's just cuz I'm 5 feet tall...and the model is prolly 5'9" or more!

No, I'm 6'1. But that's OK, pair of long mittens or something and it would be perfect. :happydance:

What I meant is that we need the same size around.

Like I've told you before, I strive to be as good as you are, one of these days.

You used 13 100 grams skeins @ $7.99 each? It is a very lovely coat. Although KP's yarns are great quality and priced better than most, the sum total is my biggest draw back. I'd love a knitted coat, but I can't afford the price.

Your talent and speed are admirable. I'm waiting to see the other coat you are working on is it almost finished?

Yes, both Fronts and the Back are on the blocking board today.

Speaking of price: this will REALLy blow your mind. It blew mine away. The RECOMMENDED yarn is Manos Del Uruguay Clasica The Naturals. If I'd have used this yarn...the coat would have cost $256! Yes, I would've need 16 hanks at $16 each.

NOT!

There are just about 3 people in our Clasica KAL over at Ravelry who are using the recommended yarn.

But I think the choice of the people is Cascade Ecological Wool (it's a heavy worsted like City Tweed HW) It knits up splendidly, and doesn't break the bank. (478 yds per hank x 5 for my size=$75)

There is a Clasica knitter who is knitting 'on the cheap' (her humorous expression, not mine) that's using Paton's yarn. Her project look as lovely as anyone else's!

Another gal is using Lion Brand Fisherman's Wool. (http://www.lionbrand.com/yarns/fisher.htm)
(At 465 yds per skein x 5 for my size=$43!) Her coat looks
wonderful too!

So there it is! This coat can cost anywhere from $256 to $43!
At any price, or any yarn, it's all in the knitting! Any Clasica in any yarn can be wonderful, and something to be proud of!

Don't be discouraged by your budget. Knit what you can for the price you feel comfortable with! Come on and join us!!

Just beautiful!! This is the one from the cover of IK isn't it? Nice job. The color is gorgeous on you. Is this the same yarn you've been using from KnitPicks or a different yarn?

Hi Judy! Thank you for your warm compliments!

Yes, this is the 'cover' cardigan on the Interweave Knits Fall 2009 issue! I have a KAL (http://www.ravelry.com/groups/clasica-coat-kal)for it over at Rav, too!

Yes, it's the same yarn! I made a Log Cabin blanket using City Tweed HW, the Calluna Cardigan, the Jacquard color for my Clasica Coat, and I'm blocking ORCA City Tweed for a Clasica for my daughter, Maureen, (http://www.ravelry.com/projects/ArtLady/clasica-coat-2)right now! It should be dry in two days, and I'm going to try to finish the seaming, etc. before we leave for the mountains on Tuesday.

Here she was, trying the Back for length!
