so, i am a newbie.
i have a PILE of odds and ends in terms yarn. it was suggested to me that since i am just learning, it would be good to make some washcloths. but then it was also suggested that i use a bunch of those squares together to make a blanket, so i can practice joining pieces together too. makes sense, i think.

my question is this: should i try and use the different yarns that are most alike in terms of weight/size/whatever, or does it make a real difference in this case? i am really just going to practice the stitches, casting on/off, etc. and then joining them all together, rather than hanging out on their own.

so, your thoughts, recommendations?

thanks!

Nothing wrong with that idea! Especially if the yarn is other than cotton. Cotton makes the best dishcloths, but a blanket in anything else would be fine. Try and use the same weight yarn so the squares will come out appx the same size.
