problems two old bags city shoulder bag

Has anyone made a 'two old bags' felted bag? Their city shoulder bag pattern is very difficult to decipher. It doesn't tell you which needle to use when. I'm pretty inexperienced and am lost right from the get go. And they are no longer in business so I can't question them!
