I got behind in my WIP's, so I've spent the better part of the last couple of weeks finishing things off.

Last night, I finally finished my Bex socks.

This is Cookie A's design from her book Sock Innovation (http://www.amazon.com/Sock-Innovation-Techniques-One-Kind/dp/1596681098/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1268084727&sr=8-1).

She's one of my favorite sock designers. Her patterns are always so intricate-looking.

This project had been on my needles for wayyyyyy longer than I intended. I cast on August 16, 2009. It wasn't that the project was uber-difficult (yeah, right, I'll bet you're saying). It's just that other projects kept stealing place in the front of the line!

This is a well-traveled project. It went on a Thanksgiving cruise with me and got to see Puerto Rico and St. Thomas...

My sister tried to steal Bex's mate during the cruise (it does look good on her foot, but I gave her a vehement "NO" when asked if she could keep it)...

I used a wonderful and inexpensive yarn for this project...Berroco Comfort Sock, Color 1702, and knit on size 1 1/2 (2.5 mm) needles. It required every single bit of one skein plus about a yard of another skein (to finish the last two rounds and the bindoff).

The pattern really wasn't that hard, except for the top of the heel. The directions did not mention this, but you have to knit the cables in reverse on the wrong side.

Um, yeah. At least the front of the book gives you information on how to do this, but if you plod right through the chart and don't think about it first, you'll find yourself tinking. This was one time when I was smart and figured it out beforehand. It was easier said than done, though. Cabling in reverse will not be something I do very often.

Regardless, the end product is DIVINE! The yarn is soft, and the cables make the socks thick and smooshy. They are fabo and will stay in my dresser drawer because, as most of us know, only yarnies truly appreciate socks like these! My sister will probably get a pair made of (cough) other yarn and less intricate patterning. Sorry Sis!

Thanks for looking (and reading my story...seems like all of my projects have stories!!!).

Awww...ArtLady, your compliments do make me blush!! :aww:

I am so fortunate to have teenagers who have good photo-taking skills. Though they complain, the oblige my requests, thus making my projects look even better!

As far as my sense of humor, one cannot get through a day with a few laughs, eh?

Yeah, I've had my eye on that pattern for a LONG time. It's in my favorites on Ravelry. I'm not sure I'm up to them just quite yet...especially after making the Bex socks!!

Oh my gosh, those are the most beautiful socks! You did a lovely job with them. I've been wanting to buy Cookie's book, and I think you've pushed me over the edge -- must have it.

Thanks, Slim!

The book is a must-buy. It isn't one of those that you buy for one pattern. So far, I've made two pairs from it, and I already have my next pattern picked out. Every one of her patterns is unique. She gives a lot of information at the front and back of the book...stuff I've never seen in other books.

Oh, and if you buy, compare your edition to the errata here (http://www.interweave.com/corrections/Sock-Innovation.asp). Make sure you print everything out. This pattern had one small correction, I think. It wasn't anything major, from what I remember. Of course, I did work on the pattern for a longgggg time, so my memory is probably shot.

Oh, and just to confirm that I am a Cookie A fanatic, I once commented on her blog (http://www.knitanon.com/blog/) about something and received an email from HER that same afternoon (the same time I received one from Anne Hanson (http://knitspot.com/). I don't know what I'd do if I heard from the Yarn Harlot!

Another divine work of art Nathalie!! You inspired me to get the book after the other pair you knitted, but I don't think I'm quite ready to go there yet! Cruise looked fabulous as well!

Oh, you MUST knit Rick! That was my red pair. The pattern is so easy!!! I am going to make Kai Mei next, which shouldn't be too hard, I'm thinking. Crossed Fingers

Incredible!!! I just finished my 2nd pair of socks and have started my third. Not sure when I'll be ready to tackle something like this though. Great job!! (PS I won't show these to my daughter - she'll insist on a pair! LOL)

Those are gorgeous!

And if you come in here before you've had enough coffee and you transpose the letters the title says "Sex Bocks" and I was thinking "Whhhhaaaattt???" :roflhard:

I'll tell you...if you can knit cables, you can do these. The construction is very straight-forward. Cookie doesn't make you do anything very weird (except for the cabling backwards on the WS). I'm SURE you could do it!!

Indeed, I did!

For those of you who haven't read my blog, I'll fill in the details.

I commented on the Yarn Harlot's blog the other day, and she emailed me personally!! I was floored!!!
