HELP w/ Fair Isle knitting pattern!
I found this great pattern that I want to work with for the holidays:
http://www.islandofmisfitpatterns.co.../07/cowabunga/ But Ive never done Fair Isle knitting (which doesn't seem that hard) and this pattern has thrown me for a loop. As you can see from the chart at the bottom, lines 1 - 7 and 10 - 12 have 19 stitches and 8 - 9 have 20. Also you cast on 132 stitches which 19 nor 20 factor into. So how many repeats should there be, or should I even read this chart to begin with. All I can tell is that the solid blocks are the CC and the O blocks are the MC. Some please help im really stuck. |
Every repeat has 20 stitches. The lines just didn't print in the chart. Imagine that the lines are there and you'll be fine.

I agree about the count. If you have 132 stitches and 20 stitches per repeat, you don't come out even, even with the extra stitch at the end of the round. I think I'd cast on the 132 for the ribbing and then increase on the next round to 140 and work 7 repeats. |
I was watching to see if someone would be able to provide an answer to this question ... when I looked at it I couldn't make sense of the stitch count either and it was driving me nuts! Thanks for the advice Ingrid! :muah:
