Hooded Baby Blanket Help
I am making the following pattern
http://www.lionbrand.com/patterns/10537AD.html?noImages= i am done with the blanket portion and am about to start the hood. My question is this... it says to sew hood to one corner. can't i just pick up stitches along the corner instead of having to sew it? Just checking.. i can goof things up and i have to have this done quickly!!! :):muah: |
I'm not sure you can unless you work it like a mitred square. Pick up sts along 2 sides of a corner and in the center of every other row, do a double dec or 2 single decreases. Of course that would mean the first few rows would be kind of tough to do as the ends are attached to the sides of the blanket. Try it out and see how that works for you.

as much as I like making everything n one piece: I would knit seperately here and sew. Suzee is right: you will not work comfortably around the corner and it will not only be effort, but also pull on your knitting and the pick up edge will not really look nicer than the sewing. Since you see both sides of the seam here, I might consider to do a "stitch over" /visible stitches running over both pieces, or one of the types of crocheting together - just for a neat look.
