Watchcaps for the grandsons
3 Attachment(s)
I bought one 7 ounce skein of I Love This Yarn in dark demin blue. I made our two grandsons a cap each. Each cap weighs 2.3 ounces and I have enough left for a third one. This yarn cost $3.69 per skein, is very soft, comes in a lot of pretty colors, and is a great bargain. Especially since I had a 40% coupon. I like it better than the Caron, Vanna, and Red Heart acrylics.
This is a free pattern I found on ravelry under free child's watchcap. It has instructions for a small child through large adult. I like the look of the Purl 2, Knit 1, ribbing. When turned upward it makes a nice knit2, purl1, appearance. I think this looks better than the 1x1 or 2x2. I tried them all. I also made a K2T through the back loop dec than the regular K2T that it called for. It was quicker and it looks just like a SSK dec, but is easier and quicker to make. |
Those are great! I like that ribbing as well, have to try it!

Very nice! I'm sure your grandsons will love having new hats for this winter :yay:
And I agree ... the ribbing you used is a nice touch! |
Great hats! My niece just recently asked if I could make some for her 2 boys and I do like the way yours look with that ribbing! Guess I need to make note of these.

Nice work! Love the evenness of your stitches!

Very nice....I just completed a chunky yarn pattern i found on line...for two caps for two nephews..I was able to complete each in a day. Does anyone else knit at red lights?

Thanks everyone. I wish I had better lighting and the pictures were brighter and more clearer.
Since making these two. I took the remaining yarn and made another in an adults size. It has two 3/4" black bands around the head and the very top has a black circle about the size of a quarter. I had to do this to complete the top since I was short of yarn. I like this one best. I don't have a picture or I would post it to. Very nice! Thanks for the info on the decrease -- I'll try that one.

Great looking hats! I love hats!
