Help Reading a Pattern

When working a pattern what does is mean when it says
K2, K3 ?

Why doesn't it just say K5?

I'm pretty new at knitting and this just has me baffled. I must be missing something!:???:

Thank you!

What pattern is it and do you have a link? A name? That's not enough information to go on...

The k2 is probably the edge sts and the k3 may be part of a stitch pattern that's repeated across the row, but it wouldn't include the k2. Is there a * between the k2 and k3, or (?

Suzeeq thank you! I believe you are correct. I have found out since posting that the k2 are the "border" stitches on every row. And, when it asks for k3 prior to the k2 is is just part of the pattern.

Again, thank you for answering. I'm new enough at knitting that I was concerned I was missing something and I was supposed to do something between the two. :eyes:

Again, thank you.
