HELP WITH PATTERN INSTRUCTIONS

Hi Everyone
I am knitting a babys blanket which has a center piece and 4 side sections. I have the center completed and have started the side sections. I knitted one side sections but I didn't end up with the right number of stitches remaining so I am going to have to type the pattern instructions for the side because I just can't figure it out.

Last 16 rows form pat between * and *. Work a further 16 rows in pat. dec. 1 st. at each end of every row (as before). 205 st. re.
I have knitted these 16 rows and everything is fine but my problem is I don't know what to do with the next 16 rows. There doesn't seem to be a decrease in rows 2, 5, 8, 11 and 14. so what decrease should I use in these rows? I have done it already repeating the 16 rows exactly but I ended up with too many sts. HELP PLEASE I'M AT MY WITS END.

For the 2nd set of 16 rows, you have to put in a dec at the beg and end of the row which isn't written in the pattern. Do it in the sts where you k32/k33 on R 1; make the edge dec 'k1.yo.sl1.k2tog. psso' then ssk, k30 and at the end of the row, k31, k2tog then the edges 'sl1. k2tog. psso. yo. k1' Then continue to do it on the edge sts for every row.

I know this is probably very simple but I'm still now sure if I am getting this. Could you show me how I would do the rows where there dosen't seem to be a decrease like the rows I mentioned. I am really sorry and I'm sure I will feel dumb when it finally sinks in. Thanks so much

For the WS rows, where you knit a bunch of stitches at the beg and end of the rows, do a dec in there, p2tog would be good. So Row 2, you would k34, p2tog, work the other sts and at the end, p2tog, k33. It's eaisier to 'see' how to do it when you work with the needles and yarn rather than in your head.

Thanks I will give it a try and there is a decrease at the beginning and end of all 16 rows is this correct?

Without a look at a picture I can't say for sure that it's at the actual beg and end of the rows. What I posted is for decs between the plain knit sts at the beg and end and the repeated pattern sts in the center.

Sorry, what I meant was the only decreases that I have to put in are in rows 2, 5, 8, 11 and 14 (which don't have a decrease in the first 16 rows) and the other 11 rows which already have a decrease at the beginning and end will stay the same. Is that correct?

Some of those other rows don't actually decrease sts at the beg and ends of the row, they have YOs which offset the decs. And the next row may have more YOs than decs so it goes back to the same stitch number. Do you have a link to the pattern or a picture? What you think you need to do may not be how you actually knit it.

The pattern is on Bernat yarns. Its in the traditions pattern book and it is the Christening Gown and Blanket. The Blanket is on the front of the book

Okay I found it and I didn't see any corrections. It is very confusing as it says 'dec. 1 st. at each end of every row (as before)' which would indicate that there were decs given and they aren't on all rows, so I would take it to mean work the pattern rows again, only you're supposed to end up with less sts. Unless the 205 sts is a typo and it really means for you to have 235 sts also. Because I can't see that you would want to have 30 less sts, the edges are wavey but that would be from some rows actually decreasing sts then increasing on a following row. Are there any other stitch counts given later on in the instructions and what are they?
