Question on weaving in ends in big loose stitches

I am making a SUPER SIMPLE stockinette throw on the lion brand speed stix. It is a pure stockinette throw holding 5 strands of jiffy at a time...I am almost to the ends of my first 5 skeins and I'm starting to wonder how joining in the new skeins is going to work.

Maybe I'm just freaking out too early and it will be fine, but my normal join would be to just hold all 10 strands (the five old and five new) and just knit them together for a few stitches and then cut them at the end...but can I cut them really short or will that make them unravel?

I don't want it to unravel but I also don't want wonky pokey-outy bits of thread all over my blanket...

I'd actually try to stagger the joins rather than knit them doubled up. Or try the Russian join, the ends get tucked into themselves - there's a video for it on the Tips page I think.

well I'm doing the Russian joins and it seems to be working out ok.

Thanks for the suggestion!
