I'm Confused. Please Help!
What am I supposed to do when the pattern tells me: 'K1, inc 1 st in every st across, K1'? (Free knits; Barbie dresses summer dresses.)

This is a way of quickly increasing the number of sts. You can do a knit into the front and then into the back of each stitch (Kfb) along the row (except for the end sts which are just plain knit). There's a video to show this technique in Increases under the Free Videos tab at the top of the page.

Salmonmac is right. This quick increase will result in a ruffle!

An increase IN a stitch is done as a kfb; the other increases are mostly adding the stitch in between other sts and don't use a stitch.
