pattern help

Hello everyone

I keep hitting a snag at the same point in this pattern I am working on.

Its 16 sts

k1*yo, ssk rep from* until last st, k1

i keep ending up with extra stitches than I need at the end of a row. The increasing/decreasing patter should balance out and I should be able to progress to the next row with 16 sts. Any idea what I could be doing wrong?

Thanks in advance

There are videos in the Glossary for yo and ssk just in case you're doing it differently. Look at the sts on the needle after you've finished this row and see if you can count off the yo and the ssk as they repeat along the row. You should have only these two sts (in addition to the k1's at the ends of the row).

yo adds a stitch; ssk, a decrease, takes one out. are you doing the decrease?
If you do one inc and one dec they balance each other out so you'll end up w/the same number of stitches.

Don't knit a stitch between the yo and ssk, the yo is just wrapping yarn around the needle, then you do the dec.
