Best Yarn for Different Projects

Hello,

Can someone please tell me what is the best yarn to use for washcloths, and bathroom hand towels??

I do not use wool; so it would need to be in the cotton/acrylic category. Plesae help.

DUMB QUESTION: Is the "dishie" yarn ONLY for dish towels and dish clothes?

Thanking you in advance!!

I've only used non-mercerized cotton for dish cloths and towels. The basic Sugar & Cream-type yarn works great. Acrylic doesn't absorb water, so I don't think it would work as well.

The Dishie yarn from Knitpicks is just worsted cotton. You can use it for anything you like.

Thank you

Oh that is great. I will try the mercurized, cotton, I have used the bamboo and natural before.

Dishie yarn just feels weird, like rope, so I didn't think I could use it for anything. But that is great to know.

Thank you so much for your help!!!

be aware the cotton is harder to knit with and it sort of 'drags' so you might find you have difficulty knitting with it at first so practice on a swatch until you get comfortable with it.

Some cotton is. The mercerized type is softer and usually thinner, not at all like dishcloth cotton.
