cast on at end of row
 

I'm kniting the "Wingspan" shawl that has 8 right angled triangles. Instructions are to: "knit to end, CO 16 st, turn". What is best cast-on to use here? I can't figure out how to do long-tail with only one thread, so I turned my work FIRST and did cable cast-on and then continued with the row. Any advice or will this work?

That's exactly right.

I worked up this pattern and used knit CO, but if the cable CO isn't too tight, that works very well too.
