Loose Loops Side...
Hi. I need some help with a project. I recently learned how to knit, and I am knitting a scarf for my sister. The pattern is simple:
Row 1 (RS)- Knit 3, *Purl 3, Knit 3 repeat from * to end.
Row 2- Purl 1, *Knit 1, Purl 1 repeat from * to end.
Repeat rows 1 and 2 to desired length.
Here's my issue: After knitting about 5 inches and looking at the result with right side facing so my cast on tail is on the right, the left edge looks good, but the right edge is loose loops. Is there a way to make the right esge tighter, so it looks more uniform and not as sloppy? I am using the pattern instructions for size 10 (US) needles and weight 4 yarn (I am using Supersaver).
Thanks for your help!!!
This is normal in knitting and may be because of the stitch pattern where you're purling the 1st stitch on the 2nd row, then go to a knit. But if you do the first stitch then pull the yarn a bit and do the next couple of sts a little tighter, that should help. I get neat even edges on both sides when I do them this way.
I'll try it. Thank you!
