Baby things for Pregnancy Care Center

1 Attachment(s)
Thanks to InsaneNewKnitter, I now have some baby items ready for a local pregnancy care center.

The bibs are a variation of this pattern: http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/libr...sy-stay-on-bib. The yellow one got a little long, but oh, well! I guess it'll still do it's job!

The cardis are based on this pattern: http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/libr...nit-baby-shrug. I did the knitted one first and then used its dimensions to crochet the white one (well, it's not all crocheted--I did knit the collar and waistband, which I won't do that again--too much trouble, and it doesn't look all that great).

I'm also making a boy's coat, and I still need to find the baby hats I have . . . somewhere!

Thanks for looking.

All are adorably too cute Antares!

There's no such thing as a too long bib - baby drool has a loooong reach...

Wow, you are fast!!!!
Bibs are a great idea, I never thought of knitting them. I have some of the cross stitch ones but knitting them is a great idea too! I'm testing out diaper covers and burp clothes with sewing, but do you think a knitted burp cloth would work?
The cardis are darling, wonderful colors too.
And yes, just a jpcharlotte said, babies drool goes a long ways. :)

Shana,

The bibs are a quick knit and, actually, the cardi is, too. I was pleasantly surprised at how fast it went.

I would think that a knitted burp cloth in soft yarn and a smooth stitch would be fine. Think of the knitted washcloths that are so handy. Speaking of which, baby washcloths would be fun to make, too. I suspect, though, that both washcloths and burp cloths might be best done in cotton. Unfortunately, I don't have an overabundance of cotton yarn.

The pregnancy care center where I'll donate these items (tomorrow--yay) not only gives women a gift "as a reminder of the soon-to-come baby," but it also allows them to earn points by attending trainings and seminars. Then they use these points to "buy" items in the pregnancy center's store. For this reason, I thought it might be nice to include some cute baby clothes and other novelty items (i.e., not just necessities).

Some things I've considered making (which might give you some ideas, too) include: vests, leg warmers, dresses, animal hats, baby mittens, cuddle sacks (love the pod that Jan linked to), baby Converse booties, headbands, and onesies. Perhaps if I can get at least one of all these done, I'll be out of stash.

Thanks for your kind comments.

Those are so sweet! I love the little white crocheted one. What a treat for the Pregnancy Care Center to receive all of these.

How nice that you could do these for the center. They will really appreciate these. So cute.
