Hello, I'm new to the forum so apologies if I'm posting in the wrong place.
I've been knitting since I was a child but am having a go at socks for the first time. I'm using the austermann free sock pattern (will post link in next message as I can't put a link in my first one)
And it was all going very well, I've got to the dividing step after turning the heel but now I'm confused. I'm making size 10 socks (44/45) and the pattern said 26 heel rows before turning but now when it comes to picking up the stitches at the side of the heel it says pick up 17 stitches, which is 9 less. Do I need to skip every 3rd heel row and space the 17 out evenly across the 26 rows or should I be skipping some at the beginning / end? I don't want holes in my sock!
Any advice much appreciated
This is the pattern link
Welcome to Knitting Help and to knitting socks!
You've pretty much figured it out. Pick up the sts evenly across the 26 rows about 2sts for every 3 rows, as you suggest.
