First project -Need help on dec
I am about half way through my very first knitting project. It looks great and I am excited. It is a pull-on hat. I am confused as to exactly what the next line is telling me to do. I would appreciate any help. Thank you !
I have just completed many rows of a stocking stitch. The next row tells me to: Purl to end dec 2 sts evenly across row. (My row should end with 2 less stitches than I have right now.) Does this mean that in the next row I knit 2 together one time? If so, does it matter where in the row? The next 5 rows after I will be knitting several together several times to shape the crown. Thank you for your help. Cheryl |
You should k2tog twice, and they should be evenly spaced. So knit about 1/3 of your sts, k2tog, then knit anotherh 1/3 and k2tog. These decreases are just to get your stitches to the right number so you can follow the decrease instructions on the next part.

Now I think I am confusing myself. The next directions say:
Purl to end dec 2 sts evenly across row. (My row should end with 2 less stitches than I have right now.) So I will purl next row and purl2 together two times during that row. Is this correct? THANKS! |
Yes, p2tog if it's a purl row, I missed that before. The main thing is to space them out so they're not at each end or in the middle.
