co1 in mitten pattern help
Hello. I am making mittens and after transferring a certain number of stitches to a cable needle to hold for later use for the thumb portion, it says to co 5 stitches in the next row. How do I do that?? Is this just a regular cast on?? Thanks

You could use the backward loop or the knitted or the cable cast on. Any will work. http://www.knittinghelp.com/videos/cast-on

I thought of a link you might like to have. This is for Kelley's Mitten Class. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p9ghFRvbOIw

Amy just put a new premium video here in KH, too! It's not free, but knowing Amy it should be fabulous! What's awesome about it is it's got a bunch of sizes and isn't just a pattern, but a how to video.

I saw that, Jan. She's using dpns and I don't, I guess that wouldn't matter though. Her mittens seem to have more rounded ends than others I've seen. I like that.

Oh I didn't notice that. Once you know how to do them it's easy to figure out the different needles. I can use DPN and do for tiny stuff, but prefer ML.
