Plymouth pattern 1945
 

plymouth 1945 Can someone help me with plymouth yarn pattern 1945. I am knitting the fronts, at the point of shaping the neck edges.

I cannot figure out how to continue with the four rows of pattern stitch as I decrease. I tried decreasing the first stitch, then continuing on with the pattern as if I didn’t decrease a stitch, that does not work.

Are you supposed to decrease a 1 stitch and then ignore the first stitch of the pattern? (for the first decrease I would ignore the K1, starting the row with slip one stitch purlwise, etc.

Any help??

No it won't, because you're missing the stitch. Slipping a stitch doesn't 'ignore' it, it would still be working that stitch, so you do the edge stitch as the 2nd stitch. Start the pattern repeat with the 2nd stitch instead. Or if you BO 4 sts, then the 5th st will be the one you work for the 4th BO, so the remaining sts will have to start with the 6th stitch.

Basically, every time you decrease a stitch on the needles, you'll need to decrease a stitch in the written instructions. Sometimes it's just easier to look at the pattern and think backwards (something I do all too often) to where you should begin the row.
