how to make this pattern
 

Hi everyone!

Firstly, I would like to say that I don't knit but my Mom does, but she does not speak English so I have to post the questions here :aww:

Secondly, we need help in "solving" this pattern or making something similar to it. Maybe someone already knows it, and would like to help us.

Anyway, here are the links to the photos what are we striving for:

They look like 3D rhomboids and I would like to ware something like that and my mom has the time and will to make me a jumper :yay: All we need is the pattern. She already tried something, but it looked more like squares and they weren't "poping out" enough (although she says it is cuz she used thin wool). We will keep trying on our own, but if anyone can help us - please do.

So it's not the sweater pattern, but the stitch itself that's in the sweater?

I see it the pic fine, but I'm not sure what you are really looking for. Are asking how to do the stitch or make a sweater or the elbow patch?

I'm thinking she wants a pattern with diamonds in it like the patch...?

There's another link showing just the fabric so I think it's the stitch. We're having a little trouble with the wording here....

The patch looks sewn on to me. It seems that getting the diamond shape is a problem. Maybe. I'm not finding instructions for a diamond shape.

ETA: Maybe double moss stitch?

Double moss is what I was thinking, too. How it looks I. Reality will be some what dependent on the yarn though.

I'm starting to think that the stitch pattern not popping is the problem and yes, it looks like the yarn could be part of the problem. A yarn that gives good stitch definition would be needed.
