I love the colors, but don't like knitting with it. Or wearing it. :zombie:

Hilarious! I guess I won't buy any!

There was a very l-o-n-g thread on Noro yarn at Ravelry a few months ago. Maybe 300 or so people posted on it.

I was one of them.

"OH YOU JUST DON'T UNDERSTAND!" the Noro lovers bleated. "IT'S supposed TO BE THAT WAY." Wabi-sabi and all--the idea that there is imperfection in everything made by humans.

Well, duh. Of course there is imperfection in everything we do, but does that mean we give up at the starting line and make ...hmm... scratchy [material with which to knit/crochet]?! total trash?! that we don't even bother??? :wall: (I haven't seen the words that instantly come to my mind posted here at Knitting Help, and would rather not be the first to use them. )

The very first skein of Noro I picked up in a yarn shop--at the urging of a Noro partisan who said, "Oh, the colors in Noro are just amazing!"--felt like straw. Pet rabbits eat hay that's softer than that yarn was. The colors of the scratchy Noro straw-like yarn looked like weeds/grass going to seed after the rainy season has ended. Not very inspirational, because it means that foxtails and burrs will be invading my dogs' feet and coats very soon.

"Floor sweepings" accurately describes what I think the yarn was made of. In fact, "floor sweepings" is much more genteel than how I would have described it.
