working a striped tank top from knit simple book..i need help please
 
knit simple book TANK TOPS TO KNIT...striped tank top...page 9, finished back working on front...got to neck shaping...and instructions are vague...anyone out there familiar with this pattern? sez
Dec row1 (RS) K1,[k1,p1] twice, ssk, k19(24,29,34,39,44) sts, k2tog, k1 plce nxt st on holder, attch 2nd ball of yrn, ..k1,ssk,19(24,29,34,39,44)sts, k2tog, [p1,k1]twice, k1- 27(32,37,42,47,52) sts ea side, then
this is where i'm having trbl ...Dec row 2(WS) working both sides at once, dec 1 st at each neck edge. rep last 2 rows 3X more...--17(22,27,32,37,42) sts. my question is do i plc a new stitch on holder 3 x as well?

Hi and welcome to the forum!
The single stitch on the holder sounds like the center stitch of a V neck and so you should only hold that stitch out once. For the following rows, repeat the decreases without placing a stitch on a holder. You can check this by reading further in the pattern. Perhaps under the directions for Finishing or for neckband there'll probably be something about using the single, center held stitch.
