Hi sorry this is probably a silly question but I just wanted to make sure I was doing it right.
My pattern says
Cast off 9 stitches at beg of next row
Work 13 rows of stocking st
Does the row I cast of 9 sts count as the first row of the 13??
Good question! I would work the row with the cast off to the end and then start the 13 rows of stockinette. It depends on the following directions which may be specific for being on the right side or wrong side row. Usually one row more or less isn't a problem.
What is it that you're making and can you give us a pattern link?
Hi I don't have a pattern link cause my pattern is from a book in the 80's lol!! It is a ladies cardigan what i am knitting currently is the left front after the 13 rows of stk st is
Dec at beg of next and alt rows work 1 row. Cast of loosly.
It doesn't say that it needs to be a specific side.
You have been a great help :)
That's not a silly question at all! I would interpret those instructions the same way that Salmonmac did. I would cast off the 9 stitches, complete the remainder of that row, and then knit 13 rows.
