Cast On: 16 stitches on a reverse stockinette background
I am learning how to knit and read patterns. What does it mean and how do you cast on: 16 stitches on a reverse stockinette background?
This is a pattern to learn the Dancing Cable Stitch (English style)
Please help!

By any chance did you watch this video? How to Knit the Dancing Cable Stitch (English Style)

Reverse stockinette is the other side of stockinette which is knit one row, purl one row, continue alternating knit rows and purl rows. For reverse stockinette the purl side is the right side. For this pattern just cast on 16 stitches as normal and the the reverse stockinette will appear *magically* as you follow the pattern. No special cast on is required. HTH and enjoy!

Thank You
thank you for your response. As you can tell I am very green and just beginning. I found that understanding the lingo is the difficult part, rather then the actual knitting.
I appreciate your time Grumpygramma :knitting:

I was glad I could help. I got help here when I first started and still learn a lot here, I like to do what I can. If you have other questions be sure to ask. In case you didn't notice there are buttons at the top for videos which you might find helpful and a glossary of knitting abbreviations. They can come in handy.
