Help!! Meringue Hand Knitted Cowl

This is the link for the PDF of the free pattern for the Meringue Hand Knitted Cowl. I think it is beautiful and would love to make it. However... I am on attempt 5 and I can't figure out what I am doing wrong. I am good until Row 2 of the Fisherman's Rib Stitch part of the pattern. I end up with over 60 stitches by Row 3 of the Fisherman's Rib Stitch in the pattern and I am pretty sure when I follow the steps to decrease in the normal part of the pattern I will be left with 33 stitches instead of 22.

Please help me!!

Thanks in advance!

So if you cast on 30sts and increase in Body row 2 to 44sts with the kfb then row 2 of the fisherman's rib should give you 66sts or so.
You'll probably have to omit the yo on the last repeat of the rib pattern before the decrease row. That should bring you back to 44 sts and the k2tog across will give you 22sts.

I can see why you want to make that pattern. It's beautiful! I think I'm going to print it out. What type of yarn are you using?

Well I am using this really interesting yarn I bout years ago. I don't even think they make it anymore. It's called MODA DEA Tweedle Dee Shaded Effect Yarn. It's a Bulky weight 80% acrylic 16% Wool, and 4% other yarn. I made a generic patterned cowl in this type yarn in a different color last year and it looked awesome. It's really soft too. So I thought I would give it a whirl!
