FO's: gifts for granddaughters

So I finally finished up this one little hank of Malabrigo laceweight yarn. Gads but there is a ton of yardage in these little suckers. Well, I only purchased one, thank heavens.

Anyway, I knit one scarf with about half the yarn, which I shared with you, and another scarf with the other larger half. I thought I'd never get to the end of this yarn!

Here is the latest scarf. It's the Leaf Lace pattern. It looks a lot like the other pattern stitch when they're all blocked out.

Here is the first scarf, the pattern being the "Green Gables" design:

Here they are together, all set for their new home!

I paid $7.69 for this hank. Goodness. Each 100% merino scarf cost 3.85! I can hardly believe it. You'd pay $100 at Nordstrom for a scarf like this. Of course, their prices are over-the-top, but just saying.

Beautiful scarves in wonderful colors. You couldn't find anything so fine at Nordstroms, not for ready money.

Both so beautiful, I love the colors and the stitch patterns.

My daughter, Lauralee, used to work for Nordstrom, not too long ago. One of her positions for a while was in accessories. She couldn't believe it, how $100-$150 scarves were right out there for public handling. But there were also scarves that were behind glass casing...that sold for hundreds of dollars.

The $100-$150 scarves were (IMO) nothing too special either.

Even though these two scarves cost me $3.85 each in yarn, I wouldn't sell them for less than $100. When you consider stitches and time involved. And there isn't one error in either of them.

Lovely! Is that pattern similar to feather 'n fan?

No, it isn't. I think they'd look less like f 'n' f with a solid color yarn.
They're really quite different than f 'n' f pattern stitch.
