Gloves I made on a circular needle
1 Attachment(s)
Recently my daughter has been telling me her fingers are cold even if she wears work gloves when she is stocking the cooler where she works. So one evening while she was at work , I found my booklet I had bought several months ago, Patons Next Steps 6 and 7 Mittens and Gloves. In the booklet it gave a glove pattern using worsted weight yarn. One problem I had was I did not have the right size double pointed needles(in fact I don't have many pairs of them) but I did had have circular needles in the sizes it asked for. So I casted on my stitches and was working away on it till I reached the point where the fingers are done. It said to put stitches on holder and knit so many stitches for finger, then cast on 2 stitches for the area between the finger and knit the matching number of stitches on the back needle . But I stuck with it and put the stitches on waste yarn and kept going. Got the first finger finished and it looked OK so I did the rest of the fingers and then did the thumb. When she got home that night, I handed it to her and said Try this on. She said it fits but the fingers area little tight. She has her father's hand size. So I started another pair using the mens size for the fingers and she that fit better. So I made a mate to the first glove and told her to take that pair to work and let one of the girls who wanted it have it. They wear it inside the work glove as a liner glove.
Here is the first pair I made, worked entirely on a circular needle.

Those turned out really nice! Did you use wool?

Very, very nice! I've yet to get to gloves but you encourage me to try. My dpns are sock knitting size mostly, I think my largest are size 3. I'd have to go with the circs too. Now I know it can be done. Thanks!

Those are some mighty fine looking gloves. I never thought of making gloves using worsted yarn  might have to give that a try myself.
