alpaca yarn good idea for linen stitch knitted blanket?

I was thinking about using 100% alpaca yarn to linen stitch knit squares and the piece it together to create the blanket.

What do you think about this and what other types of yarns would you suggest otherwise. I don't want to do acyrlic as it fake and not natural. However, I would want a yarn that doesn't have its colors faded off so easily.

Thank You!

You asked basically the same question here-

Here's my thoughts -

1- it may pill since it'll get a lot of use
2- it could felt a little
3- difficult to hand wash and dry

If these things don't bother you go for it. If you have a yarn in mind make a swatch and test it.

I agree. The alpaca would make a lovely, soft blanket but washing would be the biggest problem for me. If it's a gift, you never know if someone will thoughtlessly throw it into the washing machine.
If you prefer natural fibers, what about a supeerwash wool?
