help with a pattern
I'm knitting a stocking using circular needles according to the pattern. It knits from top to toe and I've gotten to the heel and I'm having trouble. The pattern says:
Begin Heel
row 1: knit round 64. transfer last 12 step of round 64 to the left needle. Reknit these 12 are and next 12 step past the row marker (24 total) with Cranberry. (transfer remaining 28 sts to smaller circular needle or scrap yarn) turn work. cut Spruce yarn.
row 2: with purl side facing, YO. purl across heel sts. turn.

and so on. my problem is that I get stuck after reknitting those 24 sts. once I understand how the stuff after it works I can figure it out.

Can you link to your pattern or give its name and where you got it? Always helpful.

I'm making an assumption that where it says "step" it means stitches.

Basically you'll be working on 24 sts as heel flap sts. Transferring the other remaining sts to another needle will get them out of your way. At this point you'll just be working back and forth on the heel sts.

This video isn't exactly what you're instructed to do but may give you a better idea of what's going on. You can also check out other sock videos for an overview if that's what you need.

Link to pattern
Unfortunately, the pattern is in a pdf format and exceeds the size limit for the site. I'll link the site I got it from, but it's not free and you need to pay to see the pattern.

I should also say that I don't understand how to turn my work with circular needles. This is my first time using them, so I'm not as familiar with them as I am with straight needles.

Thanks for the link. It actually looks more like a short row heel. Yarn Over Short Row Heel, Part 1

To turn your work, just do it as you always do. You can see in the video she has some of the stitches that are just waiting around until she finishes the heel.
