reversing shaping

Good morning! I need help!
I am working on a tank top and I am having problems with the following part:
Transfer left strap sts to needles and work as for the right strap, reversing shaping.

The problem I have is that does reversing shaping mean? The folloling five rows are what I did for the right strap:

P to end
BO3, k to end
P to end
BO2, knit to end
P to end

Thank you for any help!

I would assume since the left and right strap are mirror images of one another, and you have this:
P to end
BO3, k to end
P to end
BO2, knit to end
P to end
for the right strap, then on the left you would do the opposite (as in reverse).
The pattern would go like this for the left strap:
P to end
knit to last 3 stitches, BO3
P to end
Knit to last 2 stitches, BO 2
P to end.

I hope that makes sense and works out ok.

Trish

That is what I did. I did knit then BO 3. Now I have a st on my right needle. The st that I would normally pull the yarn through if I was finishing the piece. What do I do with that st or did I do something wrong? Thanks!

Perhaps you should do the BO's on the purl row so that the yarn is in the correct position to continue working the remain sts. :?

So reverse shaping would be:

Original................................. Reversed
P to end................................ BO 3 sts, p to end
BO3, k to end........................ K to end
P to end................................ BO 3 sts, p to end
BO2, knit to end..................... K to end
P to end................................. BO 3 sts, p to end

It's just an idea  ... I could be wrong though :?

Ohhh... you're right... that sounds better. Wish I would have thought of that :)

Someone here had the same sort of question yesterday; I think the thread is called "cap shaping" a little ways down the page.

I figured it out! Brightspot's post helped a ton. I had to undo a few rows to correct my initial mistake, but once that was done I was able to do it the right way. Now I move on to do the front piece! Thanks for everyone's help
