Cascade felting woes...

I am trying to felt two-colored swatch of Cascade 220. I've put it through the wash and the dryer 3 times already and it still hasn't lost stitch definition. Has anyone else had this problem? If so, how did you remedy it.
Thanks so much,
Kate

are you doing the water really hot and lots of soap? ( i use dishsoap not laundry detergent, buts thats jsust my prefence).

I just felted with some cascade 220 and it felted fine (just bled like crazy, which is unusual for cascade!)

Yeah, although I don't have a hot/hot cycle-- just hot/cold. But I've felted fine before. I've heard that lighter colors have a harder time... but this is goldenrod yellow and turquoise blue. Maybe I should try dishsoap. I'mjust frustrated cuz mystery yarn has felted fine and Cascade 220, which everyone says felts like a dream, itputzing out on me! :evil:

can you add an old pair of shoes or something to the wash so it will get more movement?

Huh... This is odd to me because I've *only* felted Cascade yarn. And it felted up great.

However, the bleach thing in the dyeing process can be a bitch on felting...

To my understanding, it's the hot water/adgitation combination that does the felting, not cold water or dryer action. So perhaps just repeated hot/adgitation sessions? I know that while felting, taking the piece from the hot adgitation, dunking it in cold water, and returning it to hot water adgitation can help... "shocks" the fibers or whatever... but this is:

::hot/adgitatehot/adgitatehot/adgitatehot/adgitate::COLD DUNK::hot/adgitatehot/adgitatehot/adgitate::COLD DUNK::hot/adgitatehot/adgitatehot/adgitate::

action.

Anyway... Wierd!

yep hot cold combo can work because it forces the fibers to contract somei t hink. (anyways, it felts my fiber if i dump it in with cold water right after i dye it!)

well, even though the swatch is being a b!@Ch, i'm just going to go ahead and make the slippers and cross my fingers! what faith I have!
