Alternative I-cord

I know how to do a regular I-cord but my pattern is calling for a purl stitch I-cord. Does anyone know how to do this? I don't understand the directions the pattern is giving me. Please help!

I've never heard of a purl icord. Why don't you put the directions here and we can help figure them out.

OK Here they are:
Cast on 4 sts. *K4, do not turn. Slide sts back to beg of needle and bring yarn around from front of needle to work from this position. Rep from *
Thanks for your help!

Maybe it just wants the purl stitches to show on the outside instead of the knit stitches? Is the rest of the item in reverse st st by any chance?

The rest of the pattern is in seed stitch. How do I get the purl stitches to show on the outside?

There is a purl i-cord in Nicky Epstein's embellishments book. Just purl the stitches instead of knit are the only instructions.
