sock cast on?
Good morning everyone. I've fallen    with sock knitting. What is the best, stretchs the most, cast on for socks?

I use long tail all the time. Don't know if it's the best but it works great for my socks.
Check out the book folk socks. this sock book.

I really like the Old Norweigian, also called German Twisted. Amy has a video of it under "Old Norweigian" here:

Although she suggests that it's a firm cast on and you might want to do it over a needle a size or two larger, I find that the same size needle as the project works just find for me.

You can always go toe up...easier to control the stretchiness at the top w/increases and BO.

As soon as I'm off line I'll pop in Amy's CDs, thanks for the tip AND I just realized I'm casting on on the same needles I'm using for the knitting. I sooooooooo miss my brain.

Kemp-one thing at a time, lol. Cuff down, then toe up....maybe.

Although I've heard the German twisted is good, I'm too lazy to use anything but a long tail which I do over 2 dpns. It's always worked fine.

:muah: :muah: :muah: to Amy and her CDs. I am now the proud owner of the knowledge to cast on TWO different ways. Did you know that video is silent? I miss Amy's voice saying, "...and that's all there is to it."

Denise-thanks for pushing me in a new direction. I'm loving this.

I just did my first toe up socks, and WOW...what a difference...might be that I was using size 6 needles instead of the last pair I did that was size 0 or two socks in a day and a half!!! (ankle socks, but still). :) I liked that I could try them on!!! :)
