antique spinning wheel

I have my great-grandmother's spinning wheel. I have used it only for decoration up till now. My question is would it be worth repairing it to workable condition. I'm sure it is missing some parts. I live in NW Indiana. Does anyone know a place or person that could help me? Thanks!

Hmmmm. It all depends on what it is missing...Know what is MIA? Then you'd have to do some searching for a woodworker who knows what s/he is doing concerning spinning wheels.

I'm of the opinion that it's worth it to restore old things to new. However, for learning to spin and such...it may not be worth it. They can be quirky and difficult to fix up or "upgrade."

I have no idea what is missing since I know nothing about spinning. I can make the wheel turn and that's about it!

I would try to contact a local spinning guild and see if someone could take a look at it for you. Here's a list of guilds in Indiana:
