Missing Stitches?
Can anybody help me? I have only just begun knitting last week and am attempting to knit a baby's bonnet. The pattern is as follows:
TURN BACK CAP Cast on 90 sts and work in seed st as follows: * K 1, P 1, repeat from * across row. 2nd Row. * P 1, K 1, repeat from * across row. Repeat last 2 rows 5 times. P 2 rows. This is all fine, however the next line is: Work in pattern as follows: 1st Row. K 1, P 1, * K 1, P 4, repeat from *16 times, K1, P 1, K 1. This only adds up to 85 stitches. I am a little confused as to how to carry on with the pattern. Any advice would be great. :?? |
honestly, if it were me, seeing as how you are five stitches out, i would put another pattern repeat in there... making it 17 times

Thanks, butl the pattern carries on as follows:
2nd Row. K 1, P 2, * K 3, P 2, repeat from *16 times, P1, K1. 3rd Row. K 1, P 1, * K 3, P 2, repeat from *16 times, K1, P 1, K 1. 4th Row. K 1, P 2, * K 1, P 4, repeat from *16 times, P1, K 1. Repeat these 4 rows for pattern. Work even in pattern for 4 inches, ending with 4th row of pattern. Next 2 Rows. Working in pattern cast on 5 sts at beginning of each row. Next 6 Rows. Work even in pattern increasing 2 sts on last row ( 102 sts). Which is confusing me even more because I'm not sure how to cast on at the beginning of each row. But as it is 5 sts, it is more than likely that it is the missing sts, but I'm still not sure what to do at the end of each row for the first section. |
i believe it means to perform the instructions between the * * once, then another 16 times, giving you the 17 repeats... this would be how i would view it if i were working the pattern.
2nd Row. K 1, P 2, * K 3, P 2, repeat from *16 (insert 'more') times, P1, K1. |
 You know I knew it would be something simple that I was missing.
Thank you, I really appreciate your help . |
