pattern help
 

I am a knitting newbie...intimidated by this pattern, but dying to try it. I am new to circular needles. When it says "Do not join, sole is worked back and forth"... does that mean I turn the needles as I would with straight needles?

I have read the pattern probably 50 times (I've had it since Nov)... just now casting on today. I'll probably have more questions.
