can you stretch out too small socks?

Hi everyone! I'm working on my first sock. I was really excited about making and wearing my it, but when I try it on, I can barely get it past my heel (though I can get it on, but with a lot of trouble). Anway, i was wondering if you can stretch them out besides blocking them, because the lady at the LYS said it couldn't be blocked, though I am going to try. The yarn is made out of 45% cotton, 42% virgin wool, and 13% polyamide. Any tips? :pout:

I kind of doubt it would stretch out permanently. Also it probably can't be blocked as it's mostly cotton and polymide.

Oh well, it will make a good....something. Unless I can wear it enough to stretch it out...
I'm kidding myself. Ignore my babble. I have perfection issues. :wall:
:verysad: Are you sure? :verysad:
