Knitting in the round and DPNs...need help!

For a few days now I have been trying to make Fuzzy Feet off of Knitty.com and I am having problems. It calls for the pattern to be done on 10.5 16 inch circulars and the first time I tried, there was no way I could do this. Tried again and had the same result, 44 stitches on 16 inch circs did not fit. So I broke out my 10.5 DPN's and it was no problem, but I may have confused myself on making a circ pattern into a DPN one. So I FROGGED 3.5 inches I knitted on DPN's so I could really give it a good try on the circs. This time it worked, I found out that the first times I was not making the co stitches loose enough but now I can't seem to keep it from twisting. :wall:

Please tell me I am not the only one to have had these problems, I mean the pattern even says that this is a good one for first time sock knitters!
Right now this seems to be the thing stuck in my mind, I want to conquer this pattern! Please help!

Knit the first two rows flat. Then connect them. Use the tail to stitch up the little seam left. So many fewer tears! :teehee:

If it's twisting and you've been knitting around, there's no help for it. :pout:
