should I buy a used drum carder?

I know absolutely nothing about drum carders. I found this one in a little shop here in Cave Creek. It turns and the teeth seem to be in good shape. Is it a good deal at $82? Nothing on ebay is below about 250 but they are all much more modern than this one.

I didn't answer here because I commented on your blog -- but I'm curious...what did you decide to do? :D

Well, I didn't get it. I don't really have a use for it as of yet although I'm pretty sure I would have found one if I got it. It might still be there by the next visit so if I get someone that thinks it's a super deal I might still be able to take advantage of it.

that seems like a great price, even for something older, yanno? If you aren't interested, but if it's still around, I might be interested in picking something like that up...I've just been working with roving but I'm sure at some point in the future I'll be graduating to wanting to make my own batts.

If it's in good working order, it's a steal and I think you SHOULD buy it.

I'd buy it even if it didn't work just right... if I could repair it cheaply, it would be great for reselling on Ebay which equals more fiber! :)

I did think of the ebay thing...surely someone would want one considering most go for $300. It think if it's still there when I go back in May I'll get it.
