Help- I keep creating a yo on my dpns
I am knitting my first pair of socks on DPNs. I have just started. I have 64 sts on 3 needles (22, 20, 22). I am doing k2p2 ribbing. My problem is when I switch needles, I keep creating a yarn over when switching from knitting to purling. What am I doing wrong? Any guidance? TIA

I suspect that when you're ending a needle with K2 you're leaving the yarn in the knit position, inserting your empty needle into the work on the next needle, and then taking the yarn over to get into position to purl.

Try this: when you end a needle with K2, bring the yarn to the front. Put the empty needle into the next stitch over the working yarn and then purl.

Hope this helps!

Thank you! Your tip totally helped! I wasn bringing the yarn forward to purl, I wasn't going over... that seems to be the trick.

Another cure for that is to use 2 circs instead of dpns. It also cures ladders and gaps.

I have occasionally made those yos on 2 circs as well as DPNS actually. I think it's better for ladders/gaps than yos. ML is just as good.
