knitting with stainless steel yarn NEW PICS!

Have I told you that I love my LYS? I'm the youngest knitter for the most part, (I'm definately the wildest with my bright red hair and buzzed haircut.)
Anywho... the owner of the LYS went to market awhile back and when she came home she was most excited about HABU textiles. A Japanese company that has the coolest yarns. Mixes of silk and stainless steel, paper, merino... just spiffy stuff. Well these kits finally came in and she is letting me knit one up for the shop! Yippee! Its merino wool and silk stainless steel. The directions are written in the traditional Japanese way and just a little on the vague side so I'm waiting on an email to clarify before I start. A few pictures of the yarn... Merino (cream color) Silk Stainless Steel (steel grey) WIP on size 8 ... I stuck corks on the ends of my DP needles because the stainless steel and addi's did not like one another. :) |
Never seen that before! I wonder if the yarn would be hard to work with, or if I'm just being too literal.:teehee: Let us know how it works out!

that is VERY cool- I think I saw one other garment made from it on Craftster- I think the knitter's name is olgajazzy? it was the neatest shawl/ objet d'art that you could sort of mold into the shape you wanted and it stayed put, yet it was fluid, like yarn. I can't wait to see what you think about it! Definitely keep adding WIP pictures...

Gorgeous! What are you going to make with it?

I saw a cool handbag pattern a while back I think on Marnie's blog that called for stainless steel yarn carried along with another.
Very groovy! |
WOW! The SS yarn is amazing! Love the color and look forward to seeing what you make with it.
