WWKIP Day - June 9th
 

Anyone participating?

The last two years I have tried to get people interested in this but it never seems to work out. I think becasue here in Portland we have Rose festival at the same time so people are distracted by that. Oh well, some day someone will get it together and it'll be great!

What is it?

Worldwide Knit in Public Day....we take our knitting with us and knit in public. Some towns have groups that get together, as you can see on the website and then others (like me) don't have a group and signed up as "unofficial knit where I can" people....then, after I signed up I discovered we have a group in Savannah, but I will be on crutches and will have to go wherever I can according to how I'm feeling so I didn't sign up for the area group...and I didn't find out about it until after I signed up as an unofficial kip-er!
It's fun, you get a lot of looks, nice responses from people. It's not unusual for me (or most knitters!) to take knitting wherever I am and knit in public, it's natural for me to pull a pair of socks out of my purse and begin knitting anywhere and everywhere!

We have a group and yes we do get "looked at" but then people come up to us and say "oh, what are you making?" or "I used to do that so many years ago.". It's neat how others react to it. It's been a positive experience. :thumbsup:

Although our knit out is not listed on the website, we are having one. If you're in our area of Cuy Falls/Akron Ohio, we'll be at the Irish American Festival, downtown Cuy Falls near the ampitheater starting at 1 pm that day. You are welcome to join us! :happydancing:

We'll be having our North Carolina get-together on that day! :thumbsup:

I marked my calendar - hope to meet you guys there. I suppose drinking the irish beer won't be a good idea, eh????? No graduation parties so far that day - so am planning on it!
