new knitter help with jacket pattern

Hello,

This is the first time I am attempting to make a jacket. It is a Debbie Bliss pattern and I am stuck on how to cast on new stitches at the beginning of a row. I am not sure what method to use the pattern states :
Cast on 6 sts at beg of next 6 rows and 18 sts at beg of following 2 rows. 124 sts.
K 32 rows.

So I am assuming on each of the first 6 rows you cast on 6 stitches each time and then on the next 2 you cast on 18 each time. I am just not sure how to go about casting on.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you!

Hi. :waving: if you are able to watch the videos here, there should be one for a knitted cast on. This is the way I usually cast on stitches at the beg of a row.

Thank you for your response. Do you mean the videos on the knitting help website? If so, is it just like casting on when you begin a project? I can follow the video if that is the case, I just wasn't sure if the working yarn should be from the already knitted section or from the new yarn.

Use the yarn you've been working with; this is like doing multiple increases to the stitch count and you'll be adding them to the already knit stitches.
