Any Sock KAL
Hi everyone, this is a general sock kal which means any sock pattern you are working on we want to know about it. We can share our wip/fos along with tips or different techniques you may use. I know we have a lot of sock knitters so I hope that many will join. :happydance:
Right now I’m working on a Nancy Bush sock (which is where this idea come from) I’m hoping to move on to Twisted Flower next or maybe even the Bayerishe Sock. :blooby: |
I'm struggling to get motivated to finish my second sock to make a complete pair, so maybe this KAL is what I need! I've got about 3 inches of ribbing on the cuff done so far. I'm just using Silver's sock tutorial and some fantastic Memories yarn from Knit Picks.
|
Oooh! I have been wanting to try to knit socks! I bought some size 2 DPNs and sock yarn a couple of weeks ago... this KAL is what I need!
I  wearing funky, fun colored socks! I really need to learn how to knit them!!! (My family always gives me socks for Christmas... maybe this year I will get them to give me sock yarn instead! :teehee:) |
I'm joining! I am making my first pair of socks with Silver's Sock Tutorial with beautiful hand dyed sock yarn that has teals, pinks and purples. I love it! I am knitting it on size 2 DPN's.
I am still knitting the cuff, but will hopefully soon be able to work on the heel. :cheering: At least now I can have some motivation! |
I'm in, I'm currently trying the 'Silver sock tutorial', but I'm really lousy. I can't get the rib to work, I've frogged the damm thing so often, still I won't let it beat me. Look forward to seeing what everyone is doing.

Oh, I'm so glad you started this knitalong, dustinac !
I cannot get enough of seeing other people's sock-knitting, ........not to mention all the helpful hints ! I've finished 5 repeats of the cuff chart on the monkey socks. http://knitty.com/ISSUEwinter06/PATTmonkey.html This pattern is going really great, and easy to read from the chart........so much better than following the text. I'm using a wonderfully stretchy Chinese wool fingering weight yarn that I purchased on Etsy from BambooVillagePress. I've used two other skeins of this yarn, and have been very pleased. Come on, IBAmyB, you sound like the perfect candidate for sock-knitting........you'll be creating all kinds of wild combinations once you get going ! And sock yarn for Christmas sounds fantastic to me ! Let us know what the problem is with that ribbing, NoBones,......maybe we can help ! I use this site for shrinking my photos to share here......it works for me ! http://www.shrinkpictures.com/create-avatar/resize.php I had to have a little photo assistance................(that's Ewe-nice helping me get a good shot !) |
I am having the most trouble resizing and posting pictures of my sock yarn!!! I keep trying and trying and I think it's gonna drive me nuts! lol I know it's supposed to be easy, but I am having issues right now...
|
I've tried all kinds of ways on here, for posting pics, and the only things that work for me are using the link I posted above and making a small photo that I save to my computer, ..then I use the button that says 'manage attachments'...........or.........
I just copy and paste a link to my photos on flickr, into the text here ! |

It worked! Thank you Dotty!
Anyways, this is the hand dyed sock yarn I am using for my first pair of socks! Just wanted to share. :happydance: Sorry about the bad lighting... it's not the best picture and you can't see the colors very well, but just what I had at the moment. |
