Opinions: child neck-down cardi by Diane Soucy

Has anyone tried this pattern from Soho Knits before? It's the 7th row down, 2nd from the left. I'd like to make it for both my kids but I've never made a sweater in the round before (and to be quite honest, my first pieced sweater is on the needles as we speak so technically I've never finished a sweater at all) and I'm wondering if it's a good starter. Also if you could recommend a good yarn for it, I'd love any opinions. Thanks very much!

I like their patterns and find them easy to follow and well written.

The one that you linked looks very simple and straight forward. Looks to me like a perfect starter sweater. And because it's a cardigan, it is technically not worked in the round because of the opening in the front. The body might be worked in one piece, but it won't be in the round. The sleeves probably are in the round though, but I'd say go for it! It looks cute.

Thank you both. I'll have to peruse that Knitting Made Simple website when I have some time and see what else she has to offer. I've never used circular needles so I guess "simple" is the way to begin. :)

Well phooey. I guess they only had one pattern left because when I went back to buy it, they were gone! No problem, I did a google search and found it on another site for 50 cents less, neener neener. The bad news: I figured this was as good a time as any to suck it up and order the Harmony needles from Knit Picks!!! Ack!!! I sure wish they took Paypal; I have a balance left there and I could have placed the order without having to 'fess up to dh.
