Looking for a pattern for baby afghan, perhaps diagonal.
I've only crocheted afghans before, so I want something that goes quickly.
Any suggestions? I looked at knittingpatterncentral but only saw 2 diagonal ones. Just wondering if anyone knows of any specific ones. Thanks! |

Oh, I have the Complete Idiot's Guide!
I didn't even think about looking at a diagonal dishcloth and just continuing on! (D'oh!)
NOW, how much yarn will I need? That is the question. I have some LSU colored bulky yarn, 3 hanks, but I can't remember how many yards are in each.....better go find out. I need to find some use for it. If it's not enough, I'll have to buy more. It never ends!!!! |
I like this variation for a 'dishcloth' blanket

I use the dishcloth pattern as well. Then when I am finished it, I string 1/4" satin ribbon through the holes and make a bow at one end. You could even put a bow at each corner if you wanted to. I used the Baby Clouds bulky yarn last time and it took three skeins up and three back down. I was told that a newborn baby blanket is usually 26" across, so I knit until the work measured 26" and then started to decrease. The advantage of of this yarn is that it is SOFT and verigated so that when you are finished it looks like a rainbow. Very pretty and cozy too. Good luck!
