FO: knitted hat with pattern
I'm excited, I just finished my first ever attempt at knitting with two colors at the same time, and also I guess putting on earflaps was an achievement since I've never done it before. Okay, it's my first hat.

I like it but I'm kind of confused about why the stripe doesn't meet up properly at the join. Like where I join the white to the blue, the white appears a line higher even though the join is at the start of the round and it's the right row.

anyway, the yarn is red heart soft touch; not very thick so I'm going to line it with polar fleece. I got the pattern from this site, it was very easy, so I'd recommend it to anyone else starting this kind of project.

Very pretty! I love the colors. The lining will make it so warm! Please post pics of the FO.

That's looking great!

A hat done in the round is really a spiral, that's why it doesn't meet at the join. Try that link and it'll help.

ok, here's the finished hat (but without the lining)

I have to say I like how it turned out, weird color joins notwithstanding. However, I used backward loop cast on for the stitches after and before the ear flaps, and they turned out quite loose and uneven, and also they don't match the long tail cast on stitches I used for the ear flaps. So next time I'll probably try cable cast on instead.
